Cavity and Groove Design Guidelines -2

SH CAI|

Modeling of closed cavities
For closed cavities surrounded by four sides, if the inner R is too small, it cannot be processed by a machining center (the cost of machining centers is relatively low). Please try to model with a larger inner R angle.

When chamfering the notch of a closed cavity, it is recommended to be below C20. Chamfering above C20 requires special tool processing, which will increase the processing cost. Automatic quotation is not possible and is not recommended.

Open cavity modeling
It is recommended to design a cavity with two through sides or a through bottom, because it can be processed by milling cutter or wire cutting regardless of whether there is an internal R angle.

For non-through cavities, it is recommended to design the inner cavity to be R3 or above.

(Above R0.5 can be processed with an end mill, but considering the actual processing depth, it is recommended to design it to be R3 or above.)
